What I Wish Ecommerce Businesses Knew

Don’t Make Them Start Over

1 min read Ecommerce

A mistake at checkout should be annoying.

It should not be devastating.

If someone mistypes a field and your form wipes everything, you’ve turned a small correction into a reset button.

That’s how patience disappears.

Show the error clearly. Point to what needs fixing. But keep the rest of the information exactly where it was.

Name, address, phone, payment details where possible. Preserve the work.

The customer should feel, “I just need to fix this one thing.”

Not, “I have to do all of this again.”

Good checkout design respects effort.

Every field already completed is a small investment. Don’t throw it away because one piece went wrong.

Errors should interrupt the purchase, not erase it.
